AUTOMOBILES OF THE INTERWAR ROMANIA

1936 Cadillac Series 70 Convertible Coupe in Bucharest The interwar period for Romania is a special period that included Greater Romanian Kingdom, the development of arts and technologies, and massive industrialization. Only in the interwar period cars became popular in Romania, especially because more and more people could afford such luxury. I decided to talk a little about the situation of drivers at that time, but also to present some vintage pictures (badly) colored by The Bunget. The statistical data is available only from 1926, but according to the book Automobile in Romania: History and Technique written by Chiriac Vasiliu, between 1922-1926 the import of cars strongly grew with an annual average of over 2000 units, so the number of cars in Romania was 11308 in 1926 (despite those 1,000 units in the pre-war period). In the next five years, the number of cars will almost reach 26,000, the increase being due to higher market involvement of foreign manufacturers such ...

BUILDINGS PORTAYING STALIN'S ARCHITECTURAL VIEWS

The main ideas of the Stalinist architecture, art déco totalitarian skyscrapers, powerful „imperial” administrative palaces and the classic revival in one post Moscow Expo, 1954 The Stalinist architecture was a current in the USSR in the mid-1930s, which had fallen in the mid-1950s and was specific to Joseph Stalin's totalitarian ambitions. This architecture combined several styles, united by common characters that distinguished Stalinist architecture from the other architectural currents of the USSR (constructivism, rationalism) and from outside (mainly modernism). Its role was classic monumentalism that combines elements of empire, eclectic and art déco. After the Second World War, the Stalinist architecture expanded into the European Communist countries, the People's Republic of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Wonderful examples of this style in Europe can be found in ex-Soviet republics, Poland and Romania. This architecture is appr...

BADEN-BADEN: STOURDZA-KAPELLE AND THE MICHAELSBERG

The Romanian Orthodox Church in the most popular spa town in Europe, the beauty of the northwestern border of Black Forest Mountains (Schwarzwald) and the town view Stourdza-Kapelle The Romanian Orthodox Chapel Holy Archangel Michael in Baden-Baden, known as Stourdza Chapel (Stourdza-Kapelle), was built between 1863 and 1866 in neoclassical style according to the plans of the architects Leo von Klenze and Georg von Dollmann. It stands on the Michaelsberg in Baden-Baden. Its founder, Prince Michael Stourdza (Mihail Sturza), was the ruler of the Moldavian Principality from 1834 to 1848. After the revolution of 1848, he left the throne and home and traveled to Paris, where he settled in 1849 after a short stay in Vienna. In the summer, the family of the former Moldavian prince held in Baden-Baden in Germany, where they had a castle in the center of the village. Mihail Sturdza, the ruler Prince of Moldavia (1834-1848)  On June 30, 1863, Stourdza's son (from the...
